Galen Higdon is a life-long resident of St. Joseph, Missouri. Galen and his wife Lou Anne have been married for 36 years. They have three daughters all living in St. Joseph; Monica Ford, Andrea Higdon and Emily Cunningham. Galen also enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, Joseph, Hailee Anne, Madison and McKenna.

Galen retired this past year culminating a 30-year career as a deputy for the Buchanan County Sheriffs Department. During that career, Galen was elected Vice-President of the Missouri Deputy Sheriffs Association by his peers. Galen has built many valued relationships over his career working for the citizens of Buchanan County. Galen and his family are active with the St. James Catholic Parish. Galen is also active with the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Host Lions Club, and is a member of the National Rifle Association. Galen is also a member of Mo-Kan Regional Council of Governments Transportation Advisory Committee.

Galen has been dedicating his time to meeting with business and community leaders and citizens of the 29th Legislative District. Galen is dedicated to listening to the people of the district to hear their ideas on how State government can better serve the people of the State of Missouri.

Galen believes in a limited government that works for the people of the State of Missouri. If elected State Representative, Galen will work to bring transportation dollars to St. Joseph, look for assistance for St. Josephs combined-sewer overflow issues, while representing the education, agriculture, public safety and other various interests of the 29th Legislative District.
